Oh November!

It's a bummer I have't posted in a while, mostly because my blogger app is all messed up on my phone and that's what I usually use to do my updates. Here's what I've done since my last post. I went to NY and I had the most amazing time. Blythecon was so much fun. Words can not describe how wonderful it was to finally meet so many people that I had only known online. As soon as I got back I tried to finish my current doll for auction but for some reason it was so hard to get back into the swing of things so it ended up taking me way longer than I expected. She's finished now but since my cat died last week I just haven't gotten around to photographing her. Things have been kinda weird. I know it will pass, but for now I'm taking it kind of easy. That cat meant the world to me. On to more cheerful things, here's a pic of Ramona (BCNY donation doll) and a preview of my current doll :)
And also I was featured in the latest "It's a dolls Life" magazine. Go check it out!

BCNY Doll

I'm getting so excited about New York in October. I can't wait to be at Blythe con!!! Here's a little preview of our BCNY donation doll. She's a collaboration between Yi Ting and myself. She's going to be a pastel Calaverita. Her beautiful ombré hair was done by Yi. I'll be doing her makeup next.

A new print is available in my society6 shop. I've been working on a series of digital collages featuring some of my custom Calaveras. This is my very first, hopefully more to come soon :)

Currently...

...finishing up this painting. As soon as I'm done I'll be taking a mini break to work on some doll trades. It's been weeks since I've done any doll work due to art shows and personal stuff going on. I'm getting antsy and I really want to customize again. I didn't think I would miss it this much :(

Todays work.

I love it when I find extra time in the day to get stuff done. Trying two finish these two in between a painting for an upcoming show. I'm still working on completing my 2012 list. Ahhh! It's almost February!

Not enough time

As most of you know, I really wanted to continue moving forward with my 2013 waiting list, but I have come to the sad realization that for the time being, I will not have the time to take on new commission work.

At the end of last year, I was invited to be a part of "Splendor Device", an all female artist collective and we have several shows coming up this year. I am super excited about this project and the new opportunities to create and show my artwork. To be able to prepare for upcoming shows, I have to dedicate all my free time to painting (though some of those paintings may be in doll form, fingers crossed)

Will I stop working on custom dolls altogether? No, never. My dolls are my muses, after all. They inspire my artwork greatly. I will still keep working on personal customs in between paintings to keep me motivated, inspired and also allow me to experiment a bit more.

Also here's the good news for those of you who want one of my dolls: when I do finish a personal custom, I plan on either offering the doll to people on my waiting list (in numerical order, if someone turns it down I will continue down the list) or listing the doll on eBay.

At the moment I am trying to finish my commissions from 2012, I fell behind when I got sick from inhaling MSC fumes and I have plans to start painting in-between these commissions until they'r done. This year is definitely going to be a busy one for me and I really cannot wait to resume work on my waiting list.

I never imagined how well received my dolls would be. I am forever grateful to all my customers and fans. Love you guys!!!

Best Wishes,
Irene Garcia aka Sirenita

La Llorona

I just completed this commission and I am so thrilled with the way she turned out. The legend of La Llorona is a story I grew up with and she has always been fascinating to me. I've done several art pieces in the past on La Llorona but this version is by far my favorite one :)

Fan Art

How freaking cool is this. Des_artistry, an amazing makeup artist, painted her friends to look like Victorias's doll and the dead Ballerina. Awww, total sweetness! Thank you Des, love your makeup skills <3

You can see more of her amazing makeup work on her instagram here:

Sorry guys....

I'm still running a bit behind on commissions, trying hard to finish up my 2012 list. Here are some progress shots of what I have been up to lately.
